Last summer we rented a car and drove from San Francisco to Carmel-by-the-sea (2 hours drive from San Francisco Airport). On the way, we had a quick tour to Silicon Valley to see the campus of Google, Facebook, Cisco etc.
Silicon Valley is also home to many of the world’s largest high-tech corporations and thousands of startup companies.

30 minutes drive from San Francisco to Silicon Valley.
Cisco is the largest networking company in the world. Founded in 1984, Cisco develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products. Headquartered in San Jose, California, in the center of Silicon Valley.
Everybody can’t live without Google today. Google specializes in Internet-related services and products. Founded in 1998, now it has become one of the most admired companies in the world. We were really excited to visit Google Campus (although just the outside). Tourists are free to drive through the campus but can’t go in the building itself unless you know someone from Google that is willing to give you a tour. But just the whole compound of Google is huge enough to drive through.

Lots of facilities for Google employees.
3. Facebook HQ
Just like the other big tech companies, Facebook HQ is not open to the public. But self-driving around the campus is ok. I found another blog this lady managed to get somebody she knew (who’s working at Facebook) to bring her for a tour. Amazing time she had. You can read about her detailed post here.
Although can’t tour the actual buildings, we had a good time driving through the big tech companies and quite inspired by the technology vibes there. Quite an experience!
