Singapore Airlines Business Class review: SIN-SFO B777-300ER

I was travelling on Singapore Airlines new business class from Singapore to San Francisco (via ICN).

136,000 Kris flyer miles spent + tax of $431.90, both ways from SIN-SFO-SIN. This is a super saver ticket so it really depends on your luck because not all flights have this package available. It can either be on the waitlist, or you might want to get another more expansive ticket available.

Anyway, it was a good deal and here are some of the highlights.

SQ New Business Class Seat

  • Retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER aircraft (also available on A350 aircraft).

SQ has been collaborated with BMW Group Designworks USA, James Park Associates and Massive Interactive to develop the new Business seats and its inflight entertainment system.

SQ New Business Class Seat

Comparing to the old business class seat, the new one is slightly smaller, but still wide enough to squeeze in 2 person.

The new seat seems more ergonomic.

Singapore Airlines Business Class Drinks and Food Selections:

Champagne on 30,000 Feet

Satay on SQ Business Class
Satay on SQ Business Class. Paired very well with the Australian Barossa Shiraz.(Comparing to Bordeaux Cru Bourgeois)

SQ Wine List

My pick: Good structure Shiraz from Australia Barossa Valley.

SQ Illy's Gourmet Coffee selectionMy pick:  Illy’s Ethiopian coffee – it’s lighter in body, very elegant with hint of floral note. However Illy’s house blend is very well-balanced as well.

SQ TWG Tea Selections
SQ TWG Tea Selections  – My pick is Royal Darjeeling. Do you know Darjeeling is also known as “champagne of the tea”?

SQ White wine and champagne menu

Napa Carneros Chardonnay paired very well with my lobster thermidor.

German Riesling on the other hand is very light on the palate I thought it wasn’t showing it best on the high altitude.

Charles Heidseik champagneSingapore Airlines Meal Service Starter

Appetiser for lunch.

I thought it’s always a good idea to pre-order your meal before the flight as you don’t have to worry in case they run out of meal choices while taking meal order. (Yes, even on Business and Suites class there’s a chance that you won’t get your choice of meal).

Personally I prefer the book-the-cook menu because I like to know exactly what i am gonna get onboard. No surprise!

 Classic Lobster Thermidor

Lobster tail sautéed in butter, flambéed in brandy, sprinkled with cheese, and served with creamy mushroom sauce, garlic and spicy mustard, and buttered asparagus.

I can taste the Saffron flavour in the rice. Yum yum.

Singapore Airlines Business Class Amenities:

Comparing to other airlines, the amenities given on Singapore Airlines Business Class is quite limited.

There is no individual amenities pouch given, instead, they give out only in-flight slipper, a pair of socks, and eyeshades.

I would prefer to have a small goodie bag that includes everything essential such as toothbrush, pen, combs etc in a pouch though.

Overall: What do I like about SQ Business Class?

  • Wide and ergonomic seat.
  • Lay flat bed (makes a huge difference on a long haul flight)
  • Privacy
  • Good service
  • So much food and drinks to choose from. (Only if I don’t mind to put on 5kg on a single flight)
