During our recent trip to Seoul, Korea, we stayed at Aloft Hotel Myeongdong. New hotel, strategically located near the shopping and food. It is part of Starwood Hotel and is referred to as “a vision of W Hotels”.
It is a young and modern hotel in the mid-price range. It’s not super luxury but you get what you need. We spent S$745 for 5 nights stay, approximately S$149 per night. (Breakfast not included).
Located in Myeongdong where the famous cosmetic shopping street and food are. Near to train station and everything.
There is a direct airport bus (S$20 / 16,000 won per person) from Incheon Airport to opposite Aloft Hotel. (Journey: about 90 minutes). The only problem was we had to carry our heavy luggage down and up the stairs via the underpass to cross the street to Aloft. There were no escalator or elevator to go down to the underpass, or pedestrian line to cross the busy main road. 😖
The room wasn’t big but it has got everything we need. New and clean, comfortable bed, toilet with bidet washer, everything works well. We loved it!
Free wifi works great. Sleep quality was good thanks to the comfortable bed with good quality linen. Housekeeping also did a great job keeping the room clean.
Basic toilet with shower. Clean and new.
Bidet washer – makes your butt squeaky clean!😁 After all those spicy Korean food, hm.. you will need this. TMI 😅
Gym and Laundry Room
The gym was quite compact but not too busy. Opened 24 hours. 👍
Self-laundry room was especially helpful to us especially after a week of travelling in Vegas. Coin operated washing machine and dryer. It was super thoughtful with a money changing machine beside and a TV playing video tutorial on how to operate these machines.
S$2.5 (2,000 won) for 38 minutes wash.
S$0.60 (500 won) for detergent.
S$2.5 (2,000 won) for 38 minutes dryer.
We enjoyed our stay and would rate Aloft Hotel 4.5/5 in terms of its convenient location, price, room quality, and service.
We didn’t pay for the breakfast as there are plenty of food options around the area. Coffee shops are almost everywhere. We also enjoyed a dumpling /noodle shop for breakfast nearby so much that we went back twice during our trip. You can read about what to eat around Myeongdong in my post here.
